U.S. House And Senate Passes Bill To Release All Epstein Files

Both the House of Representatives and the Senate decisively passed a bill on Tuesday to compel the Justice Department to publicly release its files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The legislative action comes after months of resistance from President Donald Trump and Republican leadership.

The bill, which mandates the release of all Epstein-related files and communications within 30 days, passed the House in a stunning 427-1 vote. The only dissenting vote came from Republican Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana, who cited concerns over releasing information on potentially innocent individuals.

Hours after the near-unanimous House passage, the Senate agreed to pass the bill by unanimous consent once officially received. Facing overwhelming momentum, President Trump reversed his stance and now says he will sign the legislation.

The move is seen as a pivotal victory for Epstein’s abuse survivors, who have long demanded accountability regarding his crimes and the law enforcement failures under multiple administrations. The bill explicitly prevents the Justice Department from redacting information simply due to “embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity,” while allowing for redactions concerning victims or ongoing federal investigations.

“These women have fought the most horrific fight,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, standing with survivors outside the Capitol. The passage intensifies the years-long push for full disclosure surrounding the late financier, who died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sexual abuse and trafficking charges.
