Ukrainian Ministry Of Defense Says Russians Suffering “Heavy Losses”

On Friday, The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said that the Russians are taking heavy losses in the war against its country.

“Russian mothers send their sons to their deaths because the Armed Forces of Ukraine are steadfast in defense,” said the Ministry of Defense.

“Russia has not suffered so many casualties during the fighting in any of its armed conflicts since its inception. Russian mothers are sending their sons to their deaths, because the Armed Forces of Ukraine are firmly defending themselves and will defend their land from the occupier,” they added.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russians have lost:

  • up to 80 tanks
  • Armored combat vehicles of various types 516
  • Aircraft 10
  • Helicopters 7
  • Soldiers 2,800

“In Kyiv alone, there are already 18,000 submachine guns and corresponding ammunition, which have already been distributed and will continue to be distributed to Troop Forces fighters yesterday and today. Those wishing to join the ranks of the Troop Forces and stop the Russian occupiers with weapons in hand are growing, and weapons are still coming,” said the Ministry of Defense.

“In addition, I decided, in agreement with the Commander of the Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Yuri Galushkin, to involve in the Troops of the Patriots over 60 years old, who are morally and physically ready to resist and defeat the enemy,” said the Ministry of Defense.

In a video posted to social media, Russian forces can be seen driving into Ukraine with multiple armored vehicles, and a Ukrainian citizen standing in their way as the convoy swerves around the citizen.

Ukraine’s defense ministry called on civilians in Kyiv to use Molotov cocktails to help defend against Russian invaders as they move into the capital.

In a Facebook post, the agency warned citizens that they may have to resort to fighting, according to the BBC, in order to “neutralise the enemy.”

The order comes amid an unprovoked Russian assault on the country authorized by the country’s strongman president, Vladimir Putin. He has said that he was “forced” to invade, while Russian media has tried to dodge any blame for the military’s actions, which many in the West have called war crimes.

While over 100 Ukrainians have died since the attack began less than 48 hours ago, officials have said that their resistance has been much more effective than Russia expected.

“We want to see you slaughtered like an animal,” one Ukrainian citizen told BBC, speaking directly to Putin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday that he remained in a hidden location in Kyiv even as Russian forces closed in, even as he has said that he and his family are Russia’s no. 1 and 2 targets, respectively.
