Unprovoked Daylight Slaying: Man Stabbed To Death On Tampa Street, Killer Arrested At Scene

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police arrested a man Friday afternoon following a fatal stabbing in the 800-block of East Zack Street. Diego Ponce-Molina, 41, now faces a charge of Murder in the First Degree With a Weapon in connection with the death.

The incident began shortly before 4:00 p.m. on April 10, 2026, when authorities received a call regarding an unresponsive individual.

Responding officers discovered an adult male at the scene with injuries consistent with stab wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased where he was found.

Ponce-Molina was located at the scene by arriving officers and taken into custody immediately.

According to investigators, evidence suggests Ponce-Molina approached the victim and carried out the assault without any prior interaction or verbal confrontation between the two parties.

The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed by authorities. The Tampa Police Department stated that the investigation is ongoing and further updates will be released as they become available.
