The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a ‘striking’ video on Tuesday on X, showcasing the U.S. Coast Guard’s decisive action against a “drug boat,” culminating in its fiery destruction and sinking. The incident is part of Operation Pacific Viper, a heightened offensive against drug cartels under President Donald Trump’s administration.

The footage, shared by DHS, depicts the U.S. Coast Guard’s Cutter Stone, a Legend-class cutter, engaging and ultimately obliterating the vessel. Flames engulfed the “drug boat” as it was repeatedly struck, offering a dramatic visual of the ongoing efforts to disrupt illicit drug trafficking.

This dramatic interception occurred over the weekend, with the Cutter Stone conducting three interdictions in a single night. These operations led to the seizure of nearly 13,000 pounds of cocaine and the apprehension of seven suspected drug smugglers. “ASMR: @USCG captures, burns, and sinks a drug boat,” the DHS post on X declared, providing a link to the compelling video.

Operation Pacific Viper, launched in early August, has significantly accelerated counter-drug operations in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. According to a press release, the U.S. Coast Guard has since interdicted an average of over 1,600 pounds of cocaine daily in this critical region, a major transit route for illicit narcotics originating from South America.

President Trump has made the crackdown on drug cartels a cornerstone of his return to office. In January, he designated certain international cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations through an executive order, intensifying the legal and operational framework for these interdictions.

The latest bust follows closely on the heels of another significant action announced by Trump on September 2nd. The American military, he revealed, sank a vessel belonging to the Venezuelan drug cartel Tren de Aragua, resulting in the deaths of 11 cartel members.

That strike, conducted by the U.S. Southern Command in international waters, involved Aegis-class missile boats and other assets strategically positioned to disrupt the Latin American cartel’s drug trade routes.
