US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces launched a self-defense strike in Syria this morning, destroying multiple weapon systems that posed an “imminent threat” to US and Coalition forces near Military Support Site Euphrates.
The strike was conducted after a truck-mounted multiple rocket launcher, an armored personnel carrier, and mortars fired upon US forces. In response, US forces destroyed those weapons, along with two additional truck-mounted multiple rocket launchers and a T-64 tank.

CENTCOM emphasized that the US mission in Syria remains focused on the enduring defeat of ISIS. The strike was deemed necessary to protect US and Coalition forces from an immediate threat and is unrelated to recent events in northwest Syria.
US forces remain vigilant and are closely monitoring the situation in Syria, maintaining communication with regional partners and other forces in the region.
