Following the high-stakes operation that secured the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, U.S. officials are signaling that the military phase of the mission has officially concluded.

Utah Senator Mike Lee, following a briefing with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stated that the administration anticipates “no further action in Venezuela” now that the primary targets are in custody.

According to Lee, Rubio clarified that the “kinetic action” witnessed during the raid was a specific measure deployed to defend the teams executing the arrest warrants.

Lee defended the legality of the mission, asserting it likely falls under the President’s Article II authority to protect American personnel from imminent threats.

The focus now shifts rapidly from the battlefield to the courtroom. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that Maduro and Flores will soon face the “full wrath of American justice on American soil.”

In her statement, Bondi praised the military’s execution of the mission to capture the “alleged international narco traffickers” and thanked President Trump for demanding accountability.

The operation has triggered immediate diplomatic fallout.

Key Maduro allies Russia and Iran issued sharp condemnations, with Moscow calling the raid an “act of armed aggression” and demanding an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Iran echoed these sentiments, labeling the move a “flagrant violation” of Venezuela’s sovereignty.
