PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A single-vehicle crash in Pasco County sent a driver to the hospital and ultimately to jail early Sunday morning after she lost control of her SUV and plowed into roadside infrastructure.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on July 12, 2026, at approximately 9:25 a.m. A Mazda CX30 was heading northbound on US-19 when the driver approached the intersection at Sunray Drive.
The driver lost control of the vehicle as it went through the intersection.
State troopers reported that the SUV veered off the road and onto the northeast shoulder. The vehicle then struck a ditch, rode up onto a concrete sidewalk, and finally slammed into the guide wires that stabilize a nearby utility pole before coming to a stop.
The driver, identified by authorities as 29-year-old Hannah Elizabeth Mackay of New Port Richey, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. Emergency medical services transported her from the scene to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Following her medical clearance, troopers placed Mackay under arrest. FHP confirmed that Mackay was booked into the Pasco County Jail on three specific charges: Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Drug Possession, and Driving While License Suspended.
