Vegas-To-Vegas Connection: Dayton Man Handed 10 Years For Ohio-Nevada Drug Pipeline

A Dayton man will spend more than a decade behind bars after a failed attempt to ship a massive stash of narcotics through the U.S. mail.

Kuron Evans, 47, received a 130-month federal prison sentence this week for his role in a drug conspiracy that stretched from the neon lights of Las Vegas back to the streets of Ohio.

The legal saga began in January 2024 when Evans walked into a Las Vegas post office with a package destined for Trotwood, Ohio. To cover his tracks, Evans used fake names for both the sender and the recipient, but the ruse didn’t fool investigators.

Law enforcement intercepted the parcel, and inside, they found a haul that included roughly one kilogram of cocaine and another kilogram of methamphetamine.

The investigation led authorities straight to Evans and his nephew, 47-year-old Dorian Evans. Both men were picked up in Trotwood a month after the package was sent. While the younger Evans’ uncle faced the heavier sentence, Dorian was also sent to prison, receiving a 60-month term back in March.

The final hammer fell on April 7 when Senior U.S. District Court Judge Thomas M. Rose handed down the 10-year-plus sentence. The case brought together a massive team of investigators, including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the RANGE Task Force.

U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II, along with local and federal partners, announced the outcome as a major victory against interstate drug trafficking. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Saunders led the prosecution, ensuring the paper trail from Nevada ended in a jail cell in Ohio.
