Authorities in Kansas say a man fatally shot his partner and their four young children before taking his own life inside their Winfield home on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, 53-year-old Ronald Williams Sr. called 911 to report that he had killed his family and intended to die by suicide. When responding officers arrived at the residence, they heard a single gunshot from inside. Upon entering, police discovered six deceased individuals.
The victims were identified as Kelly L. George, 44, and her four children: Carol A. Williams, 9; Ronald H. Williams Jr., 7; Sarah K. Williams, 5; and Kelly M. Magee-Williams, 3.
Following the shootings, home security footage surfaced showing Williams Sr. shouting outside the house on Aug. 7, four days prior to the incident. The three-minute clip, recorded by a neighbor’s Ring camera and shared by KAKE News, shows Williams Sr. putting items into a pickup truck while screaming profanities.
In the recording, Williams Sr. walks around the vehicle and enters it at one point while yelling. Though much of the audio is obscured, he can be heard making threats, saying, “I’m ’bout to [bleep] you up,” and “You better believe that.” He also repeatedly shouts about “my cousin” and mentions “kill my [bleep] cousin.”
Later in the video, a smaller individual accompanied by a child approaches the truck and loads items inside while Williams Sr. repeats the phrase, “When we went to Oklahoma.” The footage concludes as the second adult and child enter the vehicle.
Court records cited show Williams Sr. was a registered sex offender. He was convicted in 1998 of attempted indecent liberties with a child stemming from an incident involving a 15-year-old girl.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation continues to examine the case.
