Deputies in Florida came to the rescue of a hawk over the weekend and worked to free the bird from the grasp of a snake.

On Sunday, May 7th, Patrol Deputies received a call regarding what appeared to be an injured hawk laying in the roadway of a residential neighborhood.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy Dasher and Deputy Forero arrived to find that a snake was strangling the hawk and that death for the hawk was imminent.

Deputies were able to intervene and removed the snake from the hawk’s neck before watching the hawk take a breath and fly free.

“Sheriff Watson is very thankful for Deputy Sheriffs like Dasher and Forero, who go “above and beyond” the call of duty in incidents that may be outside of their normal scope of duty,” said ACSO. “Great Work, Gentleman!”
