MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office booked two men into jail following separate disturbances on Thursday that involved physical violence and public threats.

The first arrest occurred late Thursday night on Stock Island. Deputies were dispatched to a home on Roberta Street around 9:52 p.m. following reports of a domestic dispute. According to investigators, 36-year-old Jeanty Falando Altenor of Key West was involved in an argument when a 62-year-old woman, identified as the mother of the first victim, tried to step in.

Authorities say Altenor turned his attention to the older woman, punching and kicking her until she lost consciousness. Neighbors reportedly intervened to stop the assault, prompting Altenor to flee the scene. Deputies located him nearby and took him into custody. The victim was transported to Lower Keys Medical Center for treatment.

Additionally, investigators linked Altenor to a prior hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle. He now faces charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery, hit-and-run, and failure to register as a convicted felon.

Earlier that same day, deputies in Marathon dealt with a series of disturbances along the Overseas Highway. Jajuan Antonio Josey, 30, was arrested after allegedly moving between several businesses and threatening staff. The Sheriff’s Office was first alerted to a trespassing complaint near the 5800 block at approximately 12:00 p.m.

Witnesses reported that Josey entered a business acting erratically and making gestures to harm employees. He then moved to a second store, where he allegedly grabbed the owner and threatened to kill people inside.

After causing a similar scene at a third location, deputies tracked Josey to 63rd Street. Josey was charged with assault, assault on a person 65 or older, aggravated battery, and disorderly conduct. No injuries were reported in connection with the Marathon incidents. Both men remain in custody.
