A 27-year-old Virginia woman faces multiple felony charges in Florida after authorities traced written threats targeting a state representative, a judge, and a law enforcement employee to her, state investigators announced.
Jasmyn Osborne, of Petersburg, Virginia, was extradited to Florida on July 16 and booked into the Collier County Jail. She is charged with three counts of making a written or electronic threat to kill or do bodily injury following an investigation led by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
The probe opened in June 2025 after a Florida state representative and an employee of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received letters containing threats of sexual assault and murder. Shortly after launching the investigation, FDLE agents learned a Sarasota County judge had received a similar letter.
Forensic analysis conducted by FDLE laboratories confirmed that Osborne wrote all three letters.
On March 19, 2026, FDLE obtained an arrest warrant for Osborne in Collier County, leading to her arrest in Petersburg, Virginia. The Virginia State Police and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation and arrest.
Osborne faces charges across multiple jurisdictions. The Office of the State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit, the 12th Judicial Circuit, and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office are each prosecuting the charges that fall within their respective boundaries. Authorities confirmed Osborne will eventually be extradited to both Sarasota County and Miami-Dade County to face those cases.
FDLE stated that the investigation remains active.
