VP Harris, The Border ‘Czar,’ Finally Heads To The Border, As Trump Takes Credit

Vice President Kamala Harris will finally visit the U.S.-Mexican border, 94 days after President Joe Biden appointed her border “czar” and more than five months after Biden initiated the worst illegal immigrant surge in more than 20 years.

Harris is slated to head to El Paso on Friday with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in tow.

But the person really responsible for booking Harris’ trip is former President Donald Trump.

Trump had announced on June 15 that he had accepted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s invitation to tour the border.

“The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in U.S history, and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S history. It’s an unmitigated disaster zone,” the 45th president said in a statement at the time.

Now, Trump, with much justification, is claiming credit for forcing the hands of Biden and Harris.

“After months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created — a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies,” Trump said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Harris and Biden were given the strongest Border in American history. And now, it is by far the worst in American history,” he added. “If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!”

Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana, head of the Republican Study Group and leader of a 21-member delegation of 21 GOP lawmaker joining Trump on the trip, said the dueling trips “offer a great split-screen.”

“President Trump is the greatest immigration president of our lifetime who devoted four years to fixing the border to protect Americans’ lives and livelihoods,” Banks said Wednesday in a statement.

“Kamala Harris is the border czar for an administration that created a national embarrassment and has taken no effort to stop it.”

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz piled on, telling Fox News: “It reminds me of that old show, ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’ She’ll go everywhere except the border because she’s afraid of what’s going on down there, and they have no solutions.”
