HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A 21-year-old convicted felon wanted on domestic violence charges was taken into custody Thursday after leading deputies on a vehicle and foot pursuit in Brandon, authorities said.
Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office located Tyrome Huff Jr. on August 13, 2026, near the 1500 block of West Brandon Boulevard. According to investigators, Huff was wanted for multiple domestic violence offenses, which included threatening a victim and directly pointing a firearm at her.
When patrol units attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Huff fled in his vehicle at high speed. The agency’s Aviation Unit monitored the vehicle from the air while deputies on the ground set up tire-deflation devices.
After driving over the deployed stop sticks, Huff’s vehicle went into a ditch. Officials stated that Huff then exited the car and fled on foot before deputies caught up to him and took him into custody. Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene.
The sheriff’s office announced the arrest shortly after, stating that “a dangerous, five-time convicted felon is off the streets thanks to the quick actions of our deputies.”
According to jail records, Huff, who has five prior felony convictions, faces a list of charges that includes:
- Two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Domestic battery by strangulation
- Two counts of violation of a domestic violence injunction
- Felon in possession of a firearm
- Felon in possession of ammunition
- Fleeing to elude at high speed
