Wanted Sexual Offender In Florida Caught At Orlando Airport, Attempting To Flee To Mexico

A man wanted for multiple counts of sexual abuse, including capital sexual battery, was apprehended at Orlando International Airport as he attempted to board a flight to Mexico, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) announced.

Jose Luis Godinez-Rodriguez, 50, was arrested on March 3, 2025, by MCSO Major Crimes Detective Caitlin Hartigan. He faces charges of Capital Sexual Battery, Sexual Battery by a Person in Custodial Authority, Lewd or Lascivious Conduct, Simple Battery, and four counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation.

The investigation began on January 17, 2025, when Detective Hartigan received information about the sexual abuse of a juvenile victim by Godinez-Rodriguez. The victim provided detailed accounts of multiple instances of molestation and unwanted touching.

During the investigation, a second victim came forward, disclosing years of sexual abuse that began during her childhood. She recalled numerous incidents, starting with inappropriate touching and escalating to sexual battery and molestation.

After several unsuccessful attempts to locate Godinez-Rodriguez, Detective Hartigan obtained an arrest warrant. On February 25, 2025, the MCSO Warrants Division notified her that Godinez-Rodriguez had been apprehended at Orlando International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Mexico.

Godinez-Rodriguez has been transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held.
