WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Police in Winter Haven have launched a search for a 20-year-old local man accused of opening fire on two pedestrians over the weekend.

Authorities identified the suspect as Diante Leon Scarvers of Winter Haven. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant charging him with two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder following the Sunday evening violence.

The incident unfolded around 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2025. According to the police report, officers responded to calls of shots fired near Avenue P NW. Investigators say two men were walking toward a local store when a dark-colored sedan traveling east on Avenue M NW pulled up and someone inside began shooting at them.
