A 44-year-old Washington state woman is behind bars this weekend after leading law enforcement on a late-night pursuit through the Florida Keys. Kayleen Katherine Kay Farman, of Spokane, was taken into custody on March 14, 2026, following a sequence of events that began in Key West and ended miles away in Marathon.
The incident kicked off around 9:45 p.m. when the Key West Police Department alerted the Sheriff’s Office about a stolen Infiniti sedan traveling northbound on U.S. 1.
Deputies spotted the car and attempted a traffic stop near Mile Marker 47, but the driver, later identified as Farman, refused to pull over and fled from authorities.

The chase came to an abrupt halt near the intersection of U.S. 1 and 107th Street after the Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed spike strips to puncture the sedan’s tires. Once the vehicle was disabled, Farman was arrested and transported to a local jail facility.
Farman faces a laundry list of charges, including fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and driving without a valid license.
Beyond the Sheriff’s Office investigation, the Key West Police Department has also filed additional criminal charges related to the initial vehicle theft.
