It happened around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. FWC received the call of the attack and responded, with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Manatee County EMS.

43-year-old Eric Merda of Sarasota was reportedly bitten by an alligator near Lake Manatee Fish Camp located at 23745 County Road 675 in Myakka City.

Merda was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries to his arm. Following the bite, an alligator trapper was called to the scene to locate the gator.

The FWC is continuing to investigate this separate incident.
