A Florida alligator stole a golfer’s ball off the green Sunday at the Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club in Ormond Beach.
A video by Mike Harb, shared on social media, shows the gator grabbing the ball and putting it in his mouth, before taking off with it.
A person off-camera can be heard saying, “Chase him closer to the hole… have him just drop it in the hole.”
The American alligator, Florida’s state reptile, is a conservation success story. Florida has a healthy and stable alligator population, which is estimated at 1.3 million alligators of every size. They are found in freshwater lakes, ponds, swamps, and slow-moving rivers in all 67 counties in Florida.
