Service has returned for tens of thousands of Verizon subscribers following a widespread disruption that silenced phones across the United States for much of Wednesday.
The blackout left users unable to make calls, send texts, or access data, effectively cutting off communication for a significant portion of the day. While reports spanned the country, the impact appeared heaviest in major metropolitan hubs including New York City, Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, and Dallas.

“We let many of our customers down and for that, we are truly sorry,” the carrier stated after confirming the technical issues were resolved.
While the telecom giant has not yet disclosed exactly what triggered the failure, they have committed to issuing account credits to those caught in the digital dark. Verizon noted that further details regarding the compensation process and the root cause of the incident will be shared soon.
