Webster Man Killed After Truck Slams Into Tree In Sumter County

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A stretch of CR-707 became the scene of a fatal single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning. Florida Highway Patrol investigators report that a 32-year-old man from Webster died at the scene after his pickup truck veered off the road and burst into flames.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 AM on May 9, 2026.

Authorities stated that the man was driving a Dodge Ram southbound within the 10000 block of CR-707 when he lost control of the vehicle. The truck departed the roadway and entered the shoulder before colliding head-on with a tree.

According to state troopers, the force of the impact caused the Dodge Ram to catch fire. The driver sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP has not yet released the victim’s identity, and the specific reason the vehicle left the pavement remains under investigation. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the accident.
