A 44-year-old Margate, Florida, man faces felony charges after a months-long investigation tied him to the theft of thousands of dollars in high-end alcohol from a business in the Florida Keys.
Delroy Everton Greaves was taken into custody on July 7, 2026, and officially charged with an organized scheme to defraud.
The case dates back to April 2026, when detectives with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office first opened an investigation. According to investigators, a business located in Summerland Key reported that an individual had called their store to place a massive order, claiming he needed to purchase $4,093 worth of alcohol for an upcoming wedding.
When it came time to settle the bill, the suspect tried to pay over the phone using several different credit cards. Most of the cards were immediately declined. However, one card eventually went through, allowing the order to be processed and the alcohol to be collected.
The scheme unraveled completely when that successful card transaction was later disputed as a fraudulent charge by the actual cardholder, prompting the business to contact law enforcement.
Because Greaves resides in Margate, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office joined the case to assist Monroe County detectives in tracking down the suspect and executing the arrest.
Officials noted that the investigation remains active. According to authorities, more arrests and additional charges may be pending as they look further into the credit card fraud scheme.
