HERNANDO COUNTY, FL. – A 67-year-old Weeki Wachee woman was killed in a crash that happened around 5:15 pm on Friday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Weeki Wachee woman was a passenger in an SUV traveling eastbound on Happy Days Drive, stopped at the intersection of US-19.
Troopers say a car, driven by a 25-year-old Crystal River man, was traveling southbound on US-19, approaching the intersection of Happy Days Drive.
Troopers say the man “failed to observe” the SUV and turned left onto US-19 and into the path of the SUV.
The front of the car collided with the left side of the SUV, rotating both vehicles to a stop.
The 67-year-old woman was transported to an area hospital but later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
