POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Monday evening car crash in Davenport took an unusual turn when one driver allegedly fled the scene on an electric bicycle, while the other driver ended up in federal custody.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at around 6:11 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the intersection of US 27 and Citrus Ridge Drive.
Deputies discovered that the driver of a Ford F-150, identified as 56-year-old Rodney Stewart Presley of Pensacola, had already left the area. According to investigators, Presley unloaded an e-bike from the back of his truck immediately after the crash and rode away from the scene.
Presley left behind a female passenger in his truck. She was not injured in the incident.
The second vehicle involved, a Toyota Corolla, was driven by a 29-year-old woman from Venezuela. Law enforcement officials determined that she is currently in the United States illegally. While she did not sustain any injuries from the crash, she was taken into custody by deputies and placed on an active Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold.
Deputies later tracked Presley down at a Circle K convenience store located on US 27 in nearby Haines City. He was arrested and transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center. Presley faces misdemeanor charges of Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked.
