PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A landscaping truck tipped over during a morning turn in Pasco County today, spilling a massive load of mulch across the intersection of US-301 and SR-56.
The accident, which occurred at approximately 8:19 AM on April 17, 2026, left portions of the busy highway shut down for two hours as crews scrambled to clear the debris.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 44-year-old man from Wesley Chapel was behind the wheel of an Isuzu landscaping truck traveling northbound on US-301.
The trouble started when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto SR-56. As the vehicle moved through the turn, the heavy load of mulch shifted unexpectedly. This sudden change in weight distribution caused the truck to lose its balance and overturn onto the roadway.

The spilled mulch covered several lanes, forcing authorities to divert traffic while cleanup efforts were underway.
Despite the mess and the vehicle flipping onto its side, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the driver walked away from the scene without any injuries. Normal traffic flow resumed at the intersection after the two-hour closure.
