WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. – A 65-year-old Wesley Chapel man had died after his car crashed into a pedestrian handrail and dropped into a ditch below the roadway around 5:00 PM on Friday.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling northbound on Old Pasco Road when he failed to negotiate a left turn onto SR-52 and traveled onto the north shoulder.
The vehicle collided with a pedestrian handrail dropped from the sidewalk and came to rest in the ditch below.
The man was transported to an area hospital but later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
Troopers say the man was not wearing a seatbelt and no other cars were involved.
