TAMPA, Fla. – A dramatic crash on Interstate 75 Tuesday evening, caused by a teenage driver’s “reckless” operation, saw a BMW sedan lodged underneath an Amazon tractor-trailer, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). Remarkably, the multi-vehicle incident resulted in no reported injuries.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:10 PM on October 7, 2025, near the 269 Milepost (near Bruce B Downs) on southbound I-75.
According to the FHP report, a BMW sedan driven by an 18-year-old Wesley Chapel man, was traveling in the inside lane when the driver lost control due to operating in a “reckless manner.” The sedan swerved into the outside center lane, directly into the path of an Amazon tractor-trailer operated by a 49-year-old St. Cloud man.
The sedan traveled under the trailer being towed by the semi, leading to a massive impact. The force of the collision caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife, ultimately coming to a stop in the center median with the smaller BMW sedan pinned underneath the trailer.
Despite the severity of the crash and the extensive damage, the FHP confirmed that all individuals involved escaped injury. The 18-year-old driver of the BMW, as well as two 18-year-old male passengers from Wesley Chapel, were unharmed. The driver of the Amazon truck was also reported as uninjured.
The incident caused significant traffic delays on the southbound lanes of I-75 as troopers and emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage from the center median and roadway.
