BRANDON FL- Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office are blocking all entrances to the Westfield Mall in Brandon, due to riot and looting concerns.

A mandatory notice went out to the public to immediately leave the premises and for all stores & restaurants to close immediately and leave the mall area.

In Tampa, Mayor Jane Castor announced a mandatory curfew in response to last nights looting and rioting.

“What I saw last night was not a call for voices to be heard, ideas to affect change or ways to shine a light on inequality,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “What I saw was shameful, what I saw was heartbreaking. And what I saw did not reflect our community and the values we share. We stand in solidarity with all of the peaceful protests happening in our city and around the country,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor.

Violation of this curfew, which begins tonight at 7:30 PM and ends tomorrow morning at 6 AM, will result in a 2nd-degree misdemeanor charge which carries a penalty of up to 60 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.

A press conference is scheduled at 5:30 PM tonight with Mayor Castor and Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan.
