The White House offered clarity on Monday regarding President Trump’s recent medical imaging, confirming the tests focused on his abdomen and cardiovascular system. The disclosure came just one day after the President told reporters he had “no idea” which body parts were examined during the October visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

In a letter dated December 1, Dr. Sean Barbabella, the physician to the president, stated that Mr. Trump underwent “advanced imaging” as a preventative measure. Barbabella noted that such comprehensive evaluations of cardiovascular and abdominal health are beneficial for men in the President’s age group.

“The purpose of this imaging is preventative: to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function,” Barbabella wrote.

The physician’s update appears to resolve questions raised Sunday when Mr. Trump was asked specifically what the October MRI covered.

“No idea, it was just an MRI,” the President said at the time. “What part of the body? It wasn’t the brain, because I took a cognitive test and I aced it.”

Despite the uncertainty regarding the specific target of the scan, Mr. Trump had assured the press the results were “perfect” and promised to release them.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt read Barbabella’s letter during Monday’s briefing, officially confirming the results matched the President’s assessment. The letter described the findings for both the cardiovascular and abdominal imaging as “perfectly normal.”

The imaging was conducted as part of a physical examination in early October. That check-up occurred six months after a prior physical in April, though the specific details regarding the MRI were not disclosed until this week.
