White House Moves To Fund DHS As Trump Praises GOP Unity On Border Policy

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he intends to sign an executive order to ensure pay for all Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees, citing recent legislative efforts by Congressional Republicans.

The move follows a week of negotiations in Washington regarding border security funding and agency payroll.

In a statement released on Truth Social, the President credited House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Leader John Thune for their roles in coordinating a plan to “reload funding” for Border Patrol and immigration enforcement officers.

He characterized the Republican party as “UNIFIED” in its approach to national security and criticized Democratic leadership for current border conditions.

The President’s message took direct aim at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, accusing them of adhering to “radical left” policies that favor open borders. He claimed these policies have allowed “murderers and criminals of all types” to enter the country “unchecked and unvetted.”

The forthcoming order is specifically designed to provide financial relief to DHS staff and their families. President Trump stated that these employees have “suffered far too long” due to political gridlock, calling the staff “brave and patriotic public servants” who have continued their duties despite the lack of consistent funding.

“I will soon sign an order to pay ALL of the incredible employees at the Department of Homeland Security,” Trump wrote, adding that “help is on the way” for those working to protect the country.

While the President linked the current situation to the upcoming midterm elections, the immediate focus of the announcement remained on the administrative steps being taken to resume payments for federal law enforcement and security personnel.
