White House Opens Applications For 2026 Christmas Volunteers And Performers

The White House announced on Monday that applications are officially open for volunteers wishing to decorate the executive mansion or perform during the upcoming 2026 holiday season.

According to the announcement, members of the public from every U.S. state and territory can apply for the two distinct roles: holiday decorators or featured open-house performers.

Decorating tasks will take place over the week of Nov. 23 through Nov. 29, while selected musical acts, choirs, school bands, and entertainers will perform throughout December.

Prospective volunteers have until Friday, Aug. 28, at 5:00 p.m. ET to submit their applications online. White House officials stated that selected applicants will be notified by Friday, Oct. 2, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

“Christmas planning is underway at the White House, and President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are excited to continue the cherished tradition of welcoming volunteers to help celebrate the holiday season at the People’s House,” the official release stated.

Individual applicants for decorating must be at least 18 years old. The White House noted that group applications for decorators are not accepted and that every participant must apply separately.

While musical ensembles and groups can submit applications for performance slots, all selected volunteers across both categories are required to cover their own travel, lodging, and personal expenses.

Questions regarding the application process can be sent to Volunteers@who.eop.gov.
