President Donald Trump officially launched “Freedom 250” on Thursday, a new national organization tasked with orchestrating the United States’ semiquincentennial celebrations. The initiative promises a year of blockbuster events in 2026, ranging from a takeover of the National Mall for a state fair to a historic UFC fight hosted at the White House.
Billed as a non-partisan movement, Freedom 250 aims to lead what the President calls the “most extraordinary commemoration in American history.” The organization will coordinate with federal departments and various commissions to execute a vision focused on the “Triumph of the American Spirit.”
Leading the effort is Keith Krach, a former Under Secretary of State and tech entrepreneur, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer.

“2026 will mark a celebration of America unlike anything we have ever done,” Krach said in a statement. “Freedom 250 will reignite the pioneering spirit that defines America to strengthen the foundation for the next 250 years of independence, opportunity, and freedom.”
A Year of Spectacle
While the administration has already begun recognizing the 250th anniversaries of the military branches, the newly announced schedule for 2026 outlines a series of high-profile “Signature Moments.”
The festivities kick off as the calendar turns to 2026, with the Washington Monument set to be illuminated from New Year’s Eve through January 5.
Per the announcement, the summer of 2026 will see the National Mall transformed into the “Great American State Fair” from June 25 to July 10. The event will feature pavilions representing all 50 states, aiming to showcase local culture and innovation in the heart of the capital.
The centerpiece of the year is scheduled for Independence Day. “Salute to America” will return to the National Mall, featuring a major address by the President and a massive military flyover above the Capitol and Lincoln Memorial. Organizers are promising a finale that includes the “largest fireworks display in the world.”

UFC, Sports, and Prayer
Beyond the traditional patriotic pageantry, the schedule includes several unconventional additions to the White House calendar. On Flag Day, the administration plans to host a “one-of-a-kind” UFC event at the Executive Mansion, marking a first for the combat sports organization.
In the fall, the focus shifts to athletics with the inaugural “Patriot Games,” a four-day competition for top high school athletes—one male and one female from each state—vying for national recognition.
Other planned events include a National Prayer Event on the National Mall in the spring to “rededicate the nation as One Nation Under God,” and a collaboration with the Spirit of America parade for Memorial Day.
Freedom 250 is structured to operate as a network, pulling together public and private partners, including corporations, cultural institutions, and local governments, to drive participation across the country.
