Wildwood Teen Driver Killed In Head-On Collision Near Webster

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A two-vehicle collision on US-301 claimed the life of an 18-year-old man on Monday night. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 8:50 PM on April 20, 2026, just north of County Road 656.

The incident involved a Chevy Silverado and a Ford F450. Investigators determined that the 18-year-old Wildwood man was driving the Silverado northbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline.

This caused a nearly head-on collision with the Ford F450, which was traveling southbound and operated by a 28-year-old man from Webster.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F450 suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by emergency personnel to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

Florida Highway Patrol officials have not released the names of the drivers involved. The investigation into why the vehicle crossed the center line remains ongoing.
