Wimauma Man Killed In Violent Overnight DUI Crash

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – A 44-year-old Wimauma man was killed in an overnight DUI crash that happened at the intersection of US-301 and SR-60.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck, driven by Michael Sean Jones, 39, Valrico, was traveling eastbound on SR-60, approaching US-301.

Troopers say the Wimauma man was traveling northbound on US-301, also in a pickup truck.

Investigators say that Jones, approached the intersection, running the red light, and collided with the left side of the second pickup truck.

The impact caused Jones’ truck to rotate across the intersection and collide with two other vehicles, while the Wimauma’s man truck rotated to the roadway shoulder where it collided with a utility pole.

The crash, which closed the westbound lanes of SR-60 until 9:14 AM, resulted in fatal injuries to the Wimauma man.

Michael Sean Jones, 39, was later arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI Manslaughter and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
