Military officials confirmed the four soldiers were at the port facility when the drone strike took place. Port Shuaiba serves as a primary logistics and distribution hub for U.S. forces operating in the region.
As part of a sustainment command, the soldiers were responsible for the movement of supplies, equipment, and personnel throughout the theater.
According to multiple reports, no sirens or warnings were sounded before the impact, leaving the troops with no time to reach a bunker.
The strike comes amid a sharp escalation in the conflict with Iran. U.S. Central Command reports that 18 service members have been seriously wounded so far in the hostilities.
