POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Winter Haven man, Nikos Natsis, 36, was arrested Saturday night after being caught driving 104 mph on US 27, nearly twice the posted speed limit.

According to a report from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Giroux was patrolling US 27 near Waverly when he observed a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Natsis, speeding and weaving through traffic. The vehicle was reportedly changing lanes rapidly and passing several cars.

Deputy Giroux’s radar confirmed the vehicle’s speed at 104 mph in a 60 mph zone—a full 44 mph over the limit. A traffic stop was initiated, and Natsis was pulled over.

When questioned, Natsis told Deputy Giroux that he was unaware of his speed and claimed he didn’t know about Florida’s Dangerous Excessive Speed law. The deputy’s report states, “He is now aware of both.”

Natsis was taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center where he was booked on a charge of Dangerous Excessive Speed.
