Shyanna Brothers, 28, is facing a felony charge of hiding a corpse after police discovered a deceased infant in a cardboard box during a welfare check.
Shyanna Brothers, 28, has been charged with hiding the corpse of a child following the discovery of a deceased infant in her apartment last week. The disturbing find was made after officers responded to a “subject with a weapon complaint” at her residence. The caller reported that it “smelled like someone died inside of apartment #101” and that a woman on scene was saying “the baby is gone.”
According to the criminal complaint, officers arrived at Brothers’ apartment on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Upon making contact, Brothers initially told Officer Wright that the smell was from old food, but later said, “the baby is gone” because she was “going through a lot.”

After she consented to a search, an officer noticed a strong odor of decomposition coming from a locked bedroom door. Brothers then said, “he has me hiding her in there,” pointing to the room.
Inside, a large cardboard box was found containing the body of a deceased infant in an advanced state of decomposition. The infant was later identified as RT, with a date of birth of October 8, 2024.
The complaint states that Brothers gave conflicting and erratic statements to police during multiple interviews. She initially claimed the child’s father killed their daughter weeks ago and threatened her, but her statements became more disjointed, referencing being “raped” and “forced to hurt my kid.”
During a second interview, her behavior escalated. She began having what appeared to be conversations with people not in the room, yelling, “we went entirely too far, Shyanna” and “my name is Brendan. I killed your kid because my name is Brendan.”

An autopsy performed by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed a left frontal-parietal skull fracture on the infant, consistent with blunt force trauma to the head.
A final ruling on the cause and manner of death is pending. The complaint also notes that detectives did not find any male clothing or documentation for any other occupants in the apartment.
Brothers is being held on a $50,000 bond.
