A 29-year-old Wisconsin woman, Lauren Spors, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and domestic abuse – threat, after allegedly killing her 64-year-old mother, Carrie Zettel, with a four-pound rock.

The incident occurred on October 12, after Zettel called 911 to report her daughter was “being violent.” When officers arrived at the residence, Zettel was found deceased with “severe trauma to her head.”

A large, blood-stained rock was discovered next to the body, and police say Spors was covered in blood. Another 911 caller reported seeing the younger woman repeatedly striking the victim with a large object.

The case follows a history of domestic conflict and mental health concerns. Zettel’s friend, Loretta Moyer, stated the victim had feared her daughter for years and had a protective order against her after the 2018 death of Spors’ father.

Spors had allegedly violated that order twice but was deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial each time. Moyer shared a chilling premonition from the victim two weeks prior to her death: “Maybe if she kills me, she’ll get the help she needs.”

Spors is currently held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 21.
