Woman Extricated From Underneath A PSTA Bus After Being Hit In St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – At 10:23 a.m., a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus was traveling west on 1st Avenue North. The bus made a left turn to travel south on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street North.

There were no passengers on the bus.

A woman, Denise Rozwarski, 58, was standing on the west side of Dr. MLK St. N on the sidewalk, just south of the intersection.

Police say Rozwarski stepped out from the curb and was struck by the PSTA bus. Rozwarski was not in the crosswalk.

Rozwarski was extricated from underneath the bus and transported to Bayfront Health with life-threatening injuries.

The driver was not injured, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
