TAMPA, Fla. – on Tuesday, Tampa Police responded to the Palm Ave Apartments on Tuesday morning after a female called 911 saying she shot someone before hanging up.
Investigators say when officers arrived, they found an adult black male victim of a gunshot wound. Tampa Fire Rescue transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Officers checked an apartment where the suspect was possibly hiding. Although the suspect was no longer at the scene, a gun was located on the couch in plain view.
Detectives are continuing to gather evidence related to the shooting. “While it is early in the investigation, detectives have determined this was not a random act,” said Police in a statement.
