POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Poinciana man faces criminal charges after an attempt to get into what he thought was his own home on Friday evening resulted in a 911 call for an attempted burglary and a subsequent arrest for driving under the influence.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to a residence in Poinciana at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026. A panicked homeowner had called 911 to report that an unknown man was actively trying to break into her house.
When deputies pulled up to the scene, they spotted a blue Mercedes E450 sitting in the driveway with its reverse lights on. To make sure the driver couldn’t take off, a deputy quickly blocked the Mercedes from behind.
The driver, later identified as 54-year-old Errol Ellis Nusenko, stumbled out of the car wearing nothing on his feet but a single sock. Deputies immediately noticed small bottles of Flash Point liquor scattered on and right next to the driver’s seat.
According to the arrest report, Nusenko could barely stand up straight without leaning against his car for balance, and he was highly uncooperative and rude to the responding law enforcement officers.
Nusenko told deputies that he had simply mistaken the house for his own. Investigators noted that his explanation was somewhat plausible; Nusenko does live on the exact same looped street, and his house is the same color as the victim’s. However, he was on the completely wrong side of the loop.
Because of his poor balance, the liquor bottles, and his erratic behavior, deputies asked Nusenko to perform a standard field sobriety test. He refused. Deputies then placed him under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The disruption continued during the transport to the Sheriff’s Processing Center, as Nusenko repeatedly slammed his head against the plexiglass divider inside the patrol vehicle. Once at the processing center, he submitted to a breathalyzer test. His two breath samples registered at 0.126 and 0.124 G/210L, both of which are significantly higher than Florida’s legal driving limit of 0.08.
Nusenko was booked into jail and charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of DUI, alongside a citation for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
