‘You’re A Left-Wing Hack’: Leavitt Erupts At Reporter In Briefing Room Over ICE Shooting

The White House briefing room descended into chaos on Thursday as Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt launched a blistering verbal assault on a reporter, dismissing him as a “left-wing hack” and an “activist” following a contentious line of questioning regarding recent ICE operations in Minneapolis.

The flashpoint came when the reporter—identified as The Hill’s Niall Stanage—pressed Leavitt on the administration’s defense of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. Referencing comments made earlier by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who asserted that agents were “doing everything correctly,” Stanage pointed to the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis last week as a contradiction.

“Thirty-two people died in ICE custody last year… and Renee Good was shot in the head and killed by an ICE agent,” Stanage noted, before asking how those fatalities squared with the claim of proper conduct.

Leavitt immediately cut him off, asking the reporter why Renee Good was killed in the incident.

“Are you asking me my opinion? Because an ICE agent acted recklessly and killed her unjustifiably?” Stanage replied.

Leavitt interrupted, her tone sharpening. “Oh, okay, so you’re a biased reporter with a left-wing opinion.”

“What do you want me to do?” Stanage asked.

The exchange quickly escalated from a policy debate to a personal undressing. Leavitt accused Stanage of “posing” as a journalist while pushing a political agenda.

“You’re a left-wing hack. You’re not a reporter,” Leavitt fired back from the podium. “You shouldn’t even be sitting in that seat… you’re a left-wing activist and the question that you just raised in your answer proves your bias.”

Leavitt then pivoted the offensive, challenging the press corps on their coverage of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants. She invoked the names of high-profile victims like Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, demanding to know if the reporter had similar statistics for American citizens killed by “illegal aliens.”

“I bet you don’t. I bet you didn’t even read up on those stories,” she said. “The brave men and women of ICE are doing everything in their power to remove those heinous individuals… and shame on people like you in the media who have a crooked view.”

The heated confrontation underscores the rising temperature between the administration and the press pool, particularly regarding the enforcement of federal immigration laws.

The Minneapolis incident involving Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother and writer, has become a lightning rod for criticism, with local officials and protesters disputing the official narrative that the shooting was an act of self-defense.

Leavitt did not back down after the outburst, continuing to field questions but leaving the room buzzing from the intensity of the rebuke.
