HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A head-on collision on Treiman Boulevard early Friday morning left one woman dead and two other people hospitalized after a tractor-trailer burst into flames.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on May 22, 2026. A 27-year-old woman from Zephyrhills was driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound on Treiman Boulevard. At the same time, a tractor-trailer driven by a 47-year-old Georgia man was traveling northbound.
Just north of Belt Drive, the Volkswagen Jetta crossed the center line into the oncoming northbound lane, colliding directly with the tractor-trailer.
The impact caused the semi-truck to catch fire, resulting in an intense blaze.

Emergency responders transported both drivers, along with a 52-year-old Georgia woman who was riding as a passenger in the tractor-trailer, to area hospitals. State troopers confirmed that the driver of the Volkswagen later died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the names of those involved or further details regarding what caused the vehicle to cross into oncoming traffic.
