ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – A Zephyrhills man is facing serious federal charges for allegedly committing a series of armed robberies across the Tampa Bay area. Peter Latimore, Jr., 43, has been indicted on charges of interference of commerce by robbery, attempted robbery, use of a firearm during and in the commission of a felony offense, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the indictment, Latimore targeted various businesses between October and November 2024, including supermarkets in Tampa, Brandon, and Zephyrhills, as well as a beauty supply shop in Plant City.

In each instance, Latimore allegedly approached the customer service desk, lifted his shirt to display a firearm, and demanded money from the clerks. In one case, he even threatened to shoot a clerk if she didn’t comply quickly.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), along with officers from the Plant City Police Department and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, identified and apprehended Latimore.

A search warrant executed at his residence on December 3, 2024, led to the recovery of the pistol believed to have been used in the robberies.

If convicted, Latimore faces a minimum sentence of 29 years and up to life in federal prison. It is important to note that an indictment is merely a formal accusation, and Latimore is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
