Zephyrhills Man Struck And Killed By Leesburg Driver While Crossing Dairy Road

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A 78-year-old man from Zephyrhills died Wednesday morning after being hit by a car while trying to cross a roadway in heavy fog. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 6:58 a.m. on March 4, 2026.

State troopers reported that a 28-year-old woman from Leesburg was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on Dairy Road at the time of the crash. As she traveled through a patch of thick fog just north of Market Square Drive, the pedestrian attempted to cross the highway.

The man stepped into the path of the oncoming Nissan and was struck, troopers say.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed he later died from the injuries sustained in the collision.

Authorities have not released the names of the driver or the deceased at this time. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
