PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A 33-year-old Zephyrhills man was seriously injured and airlifted to a local hospital following a collision involving his motorcycle and an SUV on U.S. 301 Tuesday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred at approximately 9:00 PM, south of the State Road 56 intersection.

FHP reports indicate that a Chevy Trax SUV, driven by a 49-year-old Wesley Chapel woman, was traveling southbound on US-301. The second vehicle involved was a Yamaha motorcycle, operated by the 33-year-old Zephyrhills man, which was traveling northbound.

The incident report states that the SUV driver attempted a U-turn, directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle subsequently struck the SUV.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was airlifted from the scene for urgent medical treatment. The condition of the SUV driver has not been released, and the FHP report did not indicate if she was injured.
