ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – An 86-year-old man lost his life Monday evening while attempting to cross a busy stretch of U.S. 301 in Pasco County.
The fatal collision occurred shortly after 6 p.m. just north of Pretty Pond Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian stepped into the path of a northbound Chevy pickup truck.
Troopers confirmed the man, a resident of Zephyrhills, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The pickup was driven by a 60-year-old woman, also from Zephyrhills.
FHP has not yet released the identities of those involved. The investigation is ongoing.
