Zephyrhills Woman And 4-Year-Old Dade City Boy Killed In Early Morning Head-On Collision

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A devastating crash on Eiland Boulevard claimed the lives of two people early Saturday morning after a Nissan Altima crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a Hyundai Santa Fe nearly head-on.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:37 AM on April 18, 2026. According to Florida Highway Patrol investigators, a 30-year-old Dade City man was driving the Nissan northbound on Eiland Boulevard, just south of Handcart Road, when his vehicle suddenly entered the southbound lane.

The Nissan collided with the southbound Hyundai, which was being operated by a 43-year-old man from Zephyrhills.

The impact caused both vehicles to rotate before coming to a stop within the travel lanes.

First responders confirmed that a 4-year-old boy from Dade City, who was a passenger in the Nissan, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. A 40-year-old woman from Zephyrhills, who was a passenger in the Hyundai, also died from injuries sustained during the impact.

Other occupants involved in the wreck survived with injuries described by authorities as non-life-threatening.

These included a 20-year-old woman in the Nissan and two elderly passengers in the Hyundai, a 74-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman. All survivors were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.

Police have not yet released the names of the victims or confirmed what caused the Nissan to drift out of its lane. The investigation into the crash remains active.
