The investigation revealed that the tragic events unfolded around 1:26 PM on Monday when Davin Boutwell arrived in the Secret Cove neighborhood to conduct a drug transaction. Colon-Martinez met Boutwell at his white Mercedes near the intersection of Ned Engle Boulevard and Pirates Way, while Yule and Roush stood nearby. Guzman allegedly remained in the getaway vehicle, a silver Nissan Altima.

During the brief encounter, Boutwell was fatally shot in the chest. As the Mercedes sped away, it struck Nathaniel Jones, Jr., who was riding an electric bicycle, before crashing into a nearby residence on Pirates Way. Both Boutwell and Jones were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
“As usual, my detectives hit the ground running speaking to witnesses, collecting evidence, using their available resources and their excellent skills,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “What happened on Pirates Way was unusual and tragic. The six suspects we now have locked-up will be held accountable for their role in these murders. This is just another reminder that drugs, guns, and youth is deadly cocktail.”
Further investigation uncovered that Guzman, Yule, Colon-Martinez, and Roush allegedly planned the attempted robbery of Boutwell.
Chambers and Farley reportedly accompanied them in the getaway vehicle containing Guzman’s two young children.
Detectives were able to recover a shotgun, believed to have been taken to the robbery but not used, after Colon-Martinez allegedly hid it behind a dumpster at a nearby convenience store. However, the firearm used to shoot Boutwell has not yet been recovered.
All six suspects are currently in custody.
