A Florida woman is celebrating a cash windfall after claiming a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s popular 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game.

The Lottery announced today that Melanie Roff, 63, of North Fort Myers collected her winnings at the Fort Myers District Office, opting to receive a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.00.

Roff purchased her lucky ticket at Brothers Petroleum XI Inc, located at 916 Pondella Road in North Fort Myers. The retailer will also benefit from Roff’s good fortune, receiving a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $50,500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game has proven to be a major draw for lottery players, boasting a top prize of $25 million – the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game.

The game also offers the best odds for players to instantly become millionaires, with over $1.66 billion in total cash prizes available and overall odds of winning at 1-in-4.23.

Scratch-off games continue to be a vital component of the Florida Lottery’s offerings, accounting for approximately 74 percent of all ticket sales in the fiscal year 2023-2024.
